that makes me sick. I don't know how anyone could do that to a rat, let alone a baby.

i agree but it does not warrant someone deciding that they should be killed based upon the crime, nobody has that right!

Actually, any soveriegn government clearly has that right via the social contract theory of law that western nations have since Locke, Reusseau, and Hobbes.

let me guess, you believe that killing guilty criminals is bad but killing innocent babies is fine right?

Where do you get the idea that a society cannot decide how best to deal with it's criminals?

well i see your in a very forgiving christian mood, i don't think that the crime is fine but i can't fathom how any decent human being can condemn another to death, lock them up and throw away the key yes but killing in the name of justice is not fine, thus why we have abolished it in the uk, it's not humane!

yes. Actually, LDS do not look upon death as so horrible a fate as athiests do. You understand that we believe that this life is not particularly the most fun and it is a tiny speck of time in the grander view of existance so you should keep that in mind as I support the death penalty. I do not think that is sending someone to oblivion, but rather to be sent to the next life.

Secondly, do you think that being locked up forever is better than death? personally I would choose death over 50 years in a 10x10 cell anyday. But I believe I will continue to exist after death. I can understand why an athiest would think that death is the most horrible thing there is but you should understand that we do not.

Finally, it is not like the criminals do not have some say in the matter. Perhaps they should think about that before they commit a crime. Also, I noticed you didn't answer my questions....

Personally, I abhor ALL violence, including the death penalty. It costs us way more and does not act as a deterrent. Plus post humous pardons really, really suck. However, I especially abhor the way this child died, and if she is proven guilty then sterilization and life in prison would be the ticket.
