Pressure is not necessarily a bad thing. If a friend of mine insisted on doing something immediately dangerous to himself or others, I would pressure his butt right to the ground to stop him.

IMO..encourgement is gentle and supportive,pressure is hard and suggestive,its a different way of dealing with an issue,one gives you options,the other does'nt.

Lol, I admire your personality, but unforunately not everyone is so assertive. I think the difference is that pressure is a personal thing. Encouragement turns to pressure if one allows it--when one start pressuring himself to live up to the hopes of others. So alright, there is a difference. But I still think the term "Peer Pressure" can have both negative AND positive connotations.
