Pressure is not necessarily a bad thing. If a friend of mine insisted on doing something immediately dangerous to himself or others, I would pressure his butt right to the ground to stop him.

IMO..encourgement is gentle and supportive,pressure is hard and suggestive,its a different way of dealing with an issue,one gives you options,the other does'nt.

Not it my life. I have always taken my families and friends encourgement as a suggestion and no matter how much they say what they say they are basically throwing out ideas to me. If the encourgement turns into pressure I'm quick to face them and get them to back off. Not always in the most polite ways.

Lol, I admire your personality, but unforunately not everyone is so assertive. I think the difference is that pressure is a personal thing. Encouragement turns to pressure if one allows it--when one start pressuring himself to live up to the hopes of others. So alright, there is a difference. But I still think the term "Peer Pressure" can have both negative AND positive connotations.
