http://www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/meast/...ist/index.html We need to pray for a miracle. We need to pray that Jill walks away from this alive !!! We need to pray that her captors will be unable to carry out her sentence, otherwise she will be beheaded Thursday, shortly after midnight, eastern time. Last edited by FFH; 01-20-2006 at 03:30 AM. |

This is so needlessly tragic. I sincerely fear for her life! Prayer lamp lit.

My chalice is lit today for Jill and all those in harms way. May they all find the safe arms of a loved one again soon.

Well I hope for Jill to make it out ok, that and her captors relize that kidnapping people is not a way to get their prisoners returned.

I hate to say this but I highly doubt she will be released. The people that took her are animals with total disregard for life. However she also new the risks of being there. I wish I could spend some time with these animals. I am thinking about her. Lets hope someone is able to intervene and save her from these slime balls.

Update on Jill Carroll for Friday January 20, 2:12 AM Eastern Time.
BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Arabic television stations broadcast an appeal on Friday from the father of American Journalist Jill Carroll as a deadline set by kidnappers who have threatened to kill her approached. One of Iraq's most influencial Sunni Arab leaders was also expexted to call on Friday for Carroll to be freed. Adnan Dulaimi, head of the General Conference of the Iraqi People, would make the call at news conference at 10:00 AM (0700 GMT), a source in his party said. Carroll had just left Dulaimis's office on January 7 when she was abducted by gunmen. The kidnappers set a deadline of Friday for killing her if authorites did not release women prisoners. Al Jazeera and Al Arabiya television stations aired the appeal from Carroll's father. "I want to speak directly to the kidnappers of my daughter Jill, sho could be fathers like me." Jim Carroll said on Jazeera in remarks dubbed into Arabic. "My daughter has no influence, she doesn't have the power to free anyone, she's just a journalist and an innocent person...Use her as a reporter to support your cause." Since 2003 more than 200 foreigners have been kidnapped in Iraq, some by Sunni Arab insurgents and others by ransom-seeking gangs. Many of them have been killed. Jazeera aired a brief video on Tuesday night showing Carroll, 28 a freelance journalist working for the Christian Science Monitor. The group holding her said it woud kill her if Iraqi women detainees were not released wtihin 72 hours. Iraqi officials said on Thursday the U.S. military was freeing six women out of eight it was holding but that this was not linked to Carroll. A U.S. defence official said the releases would not come soon, however. Last edited by FFH; 01-20-2006 at 03:14 AM. |

We should never negotiate with Terrorists. NEVER!! .....and for a person or group from the USA to go negotiate for her release is an act of treason in my opinion. This action just gives the terrorists more reason to take more prisoners. If a dog threatens to bite you would you give a him a treat?
