Jakarta (AsiaNews) – A group composed of Islamic extremists attacked Catholics praying the rosary on 11 October and threatened to burn down the house they were gathered in. The assailants, who claimed to be part of the Islamic Defender Front (Front Pembela Islam, FPI), invaded the house of one of the Catholic community belonging to the parish of Christ Salvator in western Jakarta.

The men forced the marian prayer to stop immediately, threatening to burn the place down. They forced all those present including the Ketua Lingkungan (informal parish leader - ed. note) to sign a declaration that they will not hold any more rosary gatherings in houses in the area.

The attack has fuelled fears and apprehension among Indonesian Catholics who fear further possible hostile moves from the FPI. The front is also behind the closure of 24 home-churches in western Java.
Makes you glad to live in America, or England or anywhere you have freedom of religion doesn't it?

Yes, but they didn't start a PR campaign at the time promoting themselves as being the "religion of peace" - at least not that I know of. If they did I'll agree that they were as hypocritical as those who are trying to frame Islam in a certain light currently when it seems to be the root cause of most of the violence throughout the world right now. I'm hoping that Islam will become less violent so that I can truthfully call it a religion of peace. Right now the phrase just sounds like the product of a public relations campaign to me.

I don't believe that all Muslims are violent, but I'm not ready to call the religion peaceful.

EDIT: Forgive me if I'm biased on this. I was held up at knife point by a group of Muslim men because I was a Christian. I'll readily admit that I am biased on this one, but I've come a long way thanks to posters like The Truth on this forum. I'm working on it.

Yes. It appears as if Muslims have studied the Christian Dark Age thoroughly and are trying to implement it through guerilla warfare. It's very bold of them to try, but they are going to eventually pay the ultimate price for their arrogance and cruelty. There was no real backlash against Christianity for their crimes against humanity... I doubt Islam will be able to escape so unscathed, simply because they are not fighting from a position of power. They won't have a chance to "reform".

It's really getting bad. I'm at the point where I won't flinch at all if the world responds against this evil with massive, lethal force. I think it would be terrible... but what are we supposed to do with such cruel, power hungry people? We can't just "contain" them all. I don't know, we'll see.
