It's a city of roughly 400,000 people - 30,000 of which are, racially and culturally, Bosnian. There's a style of bikini named after this city. German grandmothers and young, Western Europeans absolutely love it...

No - there are more than 30,000 Bosnians in Sarajevo, and Sarajevo is gaining on 500,000 people right now.

Judging by the pictures, I'd say it's somewhere on the Mediterranean coast, possibly Croatia (certainly a popular holiday destination in Germany) but I can't think of any Bikini style named after a Croatian city and the demographic figures I've seen suggest that there's only just over 20,000 Bosniaks in the entire country (though I can't vouch for their accuracy). I admit to being stumped.

I initially thought of your previous comments about Izmir, but again the Bikini thing doesn't seem to fit, the population of the city is significantly greater than 400,000 and, in my memory at least, it looks nothing like the pictures.

I'll give you all a hint.

I've noticed that people are focussing too much on the bikini and the Bosnians. I'll be very surprised if you know the bikini named after this city, and every site you check will give a different number for its Bosniak population - so perhaps they weren't the best hints.

Another hint... the city is 99 per cent Muslim, but has minorities you wouldn't often associate with Islam. Two examples: Armenians, Germans.
