Welcome scholarly types, below ye shall find, what I hope, is an interesting proposition.
There is now happening in the Kingdom of RF, a contest, of gloriously epical proportions. The PRIZE shall be: 1,000,000 (1 Miiiiillion) coins RF Scholarship award. 1 entry per person/anthropod only please. ![]() The Task is as follows: The basic premise is for you, the members of this fair land to research and present an article on a facet of a theosophy that you are NOT familiar with (ie are not an adherent of or have ever been an adherent of). Ideally this should be something you have not researched before either. These wouldn't have to be present day religions, if you would like to present a "dead" theosophy I'd like to think we could be open to that. Now this is not your average "Hey tell us about a religion and it's doctrine ideals etc". The emphasis should be placed upon discussing the humanity of the religions. We're not talking dogma, doctrine or ideas about the divine and explaining any of these things. More a description of the effects of a particular philosophy on the life of your average Old Testament Jew, Neo-Pagan, 10th Century Muslim, Bhuddist or Atlantean Neptune worshipper. What should be discussed is how they integrate(d) and add(ed) to/detract(ed) from their adherents daily lives. This can include the "quirks"/interesting things in said theosophies social groups of your chosen religion but should not be a top down view, more focussing on the impact to everyday lives of it's adherents and how their religion/philosophy effects their perspective about the world around them. This is open to Non-theistic philosophies as well as theistic philosophies. The "rules" are as follows 1. Ye shall present to the judges an article/presentation/essay (hereafter known as APE) of no more than 3000 words. (Ok so if it's 3005 we're not going to be pricks) There is no real set format but it must be presentable and your point clear, because if the judges can't understand you... 2. This APE should be about 1 (one) religion/philosophy and the impact in daily life/social interaction of said philosophy upon it's adherents 3. Your research and presentation should be centred around a theosophy of which you have no direct prior experience of. (i.e you haven't studied it IN DEPTH or adhered in any way to it's teachings). 4. Do not take this as an excuse to mock or bash another theosophy's society or societal microcosm. Balanced views are more likely to do well. 5.PLEASE DO NOT POST YOUR ARTICLE HERE! : Once your APE is completed, please post it in the "Articles" section of our forum and link to it in this thread. 6. Do not attempt to correspond with the judges regarding this. Their decision will be made on your presentation alone. Anyone caught trying to influence their decision will immediately be brought low by a flying sheep propelled at sub-sonic velocity by an Inter-Continental Ballistic Mammalthrower. 7. Entries Close at Monday July 17th (10/07/06) at 7am on Michel's clock. (British time). Your Adjudicators are as follows: - Angellous_Evangellous - Engyo - Jayhawker Soule - Maize - Mike182 I'd like to thank them now for taking time out of their busy lives to help! ![]() So ladies and gentlemen... it's in your hands now. Good luck to you all! ChrisP Itinerant sheep

Ahem, Mr. Sheep Person?
I think this contest is a highly gracious offer of yours and one I intend to contemplate entering but,.....I see that your bank account has roughly 635,000 coins. Now, I know you have beat me out of the lottery on numerous occasions recently but, do you plan on asking me for a loan for the remaining prize amount? My interest rates are very fair, mind you. ![]() |

So you just want roughly 3000 words about any religion or belief system and how it effected/effects the people who follow it on a daily basis correct? Will you also be needing references to be posted somewhere?

References would be nice. Just add them to the end of your Article. 3000 words is the MAX. There is no minimum
