Default Orthodox vs. Reform

I'm only familiar (and I use that term very loosely) with Abrahamic religions and their forms of orthodoxy/conservatism and reform/progressive within various denominations.

Are their similar sect/divisions amongst other religions, that qualify in an extreme against another? I've learned on RF of the many Hindu branches, so are some more orthodox or conservative than others? If so, can you list the sects of various religions and if they would be considered more conservative or progressive, and what makes each part of that catergory?

Thanks.
