atheists: capitalist or communist? (myth, religions, Atheism)

I'm in between, so I chose communism. I don't think either side is perfect. There are parts of capitalism that work well, but I think it should be tempered by some ideas from communism and socialism. Sorry to mess up your poll, but it should still show that the vast majority of atheists are not communists. I think the better poll, though, would be how many who favor communism are atheists.

Yeah well, I must say that I wanted to know the answer for myself personally. And as I am no communist myself your better poll wouldn't be better for me

And I think that most people would be somewhere in between only leaning one side. That's why I didn't add the option "in between"

Sorry, maybe that was a bad choice of words. I didn't mean to insult your poll. It's just that I think asking it the other way around helps combet the view that atheism and communism necessarily go together.

And I think that most people would be somewhere in between only leaning one side. That's why I didn't add the option "in between"

I hear ya. I just wouldn't actually label myself a communist or a capitalist.

Neither. I'm a Socialist, or a Social Democrat to be more specific -- neither a full-fledged free-market capitalist nor a full-fledged command-economy Communist.

Same here, pretty much.
I'm not communist, nor capitalist. I don't mind accruing my own wealth, hence in that respect I'm capitalist, but neither do I think that my benefit should put another into poverty - hence my leaning towards communism.

What are the logical inferences from Atheism to Libertarianism and Socialism that make that position logically consistent and all other political positions logically inconsistent?

There's no short answer to that, but if you think you can have a functional non-religious Atheistic form of Capitalism that will last, you're greatly mistaken. Capital is technology, and technology is the bridge between man and God. Take away the latter and the System loses its purpose, and eventually collapses. This has happened before.
