Well as I have now officialy finished uni for a few months, you would think that I would go out and enjoy myself. However, sad old me has made a decision to read the Bible properly from begining to end, without even missing out the boring bits. As a theology student it seems funny that I havent read it all(or in reality, more than about 2% if I am honest.), a bit like a trainee cook never going into a kitchen.
So what I am going to do, is every time I have read a 'section' I will post my comments and questions for all you clever people to discuss and answer (there will more questions than anything else though). It will be a bit like a mammoth Bible study, with all the of Bible from begining to end... well I am going to go and read Genesis (or some of it anyway, I am not that studious) Feel free to read along with me |

Awesome..I am ashamed to say I have not read from fornt to back the entire Bible.
What happens is I read a chapter or two..or sometimes even a paragraph..Then my eyebrows crinkle ..and I go off into never never land tyrign to figure out what that means and specifically to me..Other times I read some ..and I get defensive and angry..And I want to throw the Bible across the room.. But I need to dig in ..What better way to do so than with my Kitty Cat... ![]() Love Dallas |

Well, you're not the only one. In most of the exegesis courses in three seminaries I've attended, more than half the class had not read whatever text the course was studying.

so little time...my kitchen needed cleaning
![]() well I have read Genesis 1-3 and that is as far as I have got. so the questions I am asking are: ( by the way the bible I am using is the "the Student Bible,,N.I.V, Hodder &Stoughton ,1997", however I have several other Bibles so if anyone prefares a different one, I can happily use it instead): God made eve to help adam becauce "no suitable helper was found"(2.v 20). Is this simply an error on my bible or does this imply something else...? I dont understand.does this imply that God was hoping that Adam would find some help from the animals? then 3. v 22 "and the Lord God said' The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil.' again, is this my Bible or does this imply other 'beings' in existence? sorry if these are all elementary questions, however, I believe that anyone that is frustrated with my ignorance maybe needs to remember that it is only by asking questions that one may learn. Many thanks in advance of everyones interpratation and knowledge on this. |

The way I like to invision this...Is Adam was happy..but eventually he realized he was the only one like him..(human)...So he was looking around for someone that was like him. He was lonely...And God wasnt done yet..Adam was Gods image..but Eve was on her way Gods image as well..The male and female of God(in elementary terms)..Adam was "incomplete"...God gave Adam his daughter...Eve..Eve the jewel in Gods crown..
Eve wasnt a "helper" ..not in the sense of "hamburger helper" Eve was Ezer Kenegdo...An opposite but equal life savign force for Adam.. Love Dallas Last edited by DallasApple; 05-13-2008 at 04:39 PM. |
