The Bible is correct and complete as far as it is translated correctly. The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. The LDS Church believes that the Bible still has many important things missing from it, and from that assumption, yes, we need the Book of Mormon.

No Becky, it's not the King James Version, it's the Joseph Smith Version, this version was not translated by the King James translators and Joseph Smith didn't use the same manuscripts, old bibles, and church fathers to translate it. It simply has the same style of text but it has no right to be called a king james version.

This is why FFH keeps on comparing the two attempting to show how the Joseph Smith "translation" is more accurate. .......

The NEB is a very good translation. For my money (and many Bible scholars) the NRSV is the most "accurate." The NIV is a translation (as opposed to a paraphrase) but it has some serious evangelical overtones.

I don't deal with paraphrases, personally, so I can't tell you anything about them...

It would be impossible, since there are Hebrew words and phrases that just don't translate into English. Greek has the same problem.

That would be good, but we may not understand it very well. We actually have the Hebrew and the Greek and could try to translate it word for word into English, but it would not work too well. Some phrases and wording would not make sense. Like if I tried to literally translate, "yo dog, what's up? You diggin okay and ready to get down with your bad self?" into french. They would not understand it. Anyway, people are making more and more translations that are helping us understand the Bible better every year. I think it is good to study the way translation is done, the rules and etc. and if the meaning of a verse or verses is not clear in one translation or if you just want to compare and get a better understanding, then using many translations is good. While I enjoy the KJV, as I can memorize it easy and understand most of the words, there are some which help me understand even better some verses and words that are archaic. I think the Bible sufficiently contains all we need to know God and what He has revealed to us:

2 Timothy 3:16-18


16 God has breathed life into all of Scripture. It is useful for teaching us what is true. It is useful for correcting our mistakes. It is useful for making our lives whole again. It is useful for training us to do what is right. 17 By using Scripture, a man of God can be completely prepared to do every good thing.

I use the Jewish Publication Society Hebrew/English Tanakh for the Old Testament. If you want an accurate New Testament then I suggest learning Greek or Latin.
