How Do You Pray?
Is your prayer mostly spontaneous/ad libbed, mostly recitation of memorized prayers, chants, or something in between?

My prayer is both.
I often take bits and pieces of meaningful phrases from things like novels, or poems, or songs, or movies. Or, I create my own that I can memorize and make powerful. But I also often make up my own right there on the spot, since I can never predict ahead of time when prayer (chant/invocation) will be needed.

Mine is usually is completely spontaneous. My prayers are just like a more serious conversation with a best friend. I just go with whatever's in my heart. I don't bother with big words, either, or thees and thous. My prayers are very simple.

I had to say mostly memorized. For muslims the salaat is set, but the dua is anything you want to say however long or short you wanna make it.

I only "pray" for others. I guess that makes it all ad-lib, as every situation is different. Mostly, I pray for those that have passed.
