can anyone give me some examples of characters in the bible that may have been derived from other religious traditions, like babylonian, greek or egyptian?
I already know about Dionysius, Osiris, Mithras - Jesus. |

The goddess Yahweh is supposed to have deemed an abomination, Asherah, was a Ugaritic moon-goddess.
Astarte or Ishtar are mentioned as the Queen of Heaven in the OT too. Lots of reviled pagan goddesses in the OT! Samson may have originally been a Sumerian Sun-hero, yada yada... Why do you want to know? |
