I was having a conversation with someone yesterday about my beliefs and I kept feeling like I needed to qualify a lot of my statements with "this is what I believe but I can't say that all Wiccans believe the same thing".
My question is: is this something that is unique to Wicca? For your religion (e.g. Methodist, LDS, Baptist, Hindu, Islam, ...) what are the beliefs a person MUST accept in order to consider themselves that religion/denomination? And, are these beliefs written down in one authoritative place (e.g. OT - 10 commandments for Jews) or is it just general consensus agreed to/written by people over the years? I know I didn't put Christians or theists as examples. The reason is if you are a specific denomination, I'd like hear for that denomination. But, if not I'd like to hear what the minimum beliefs you must have to be Christian/theist and is this authoritative (name the source) or just your opinion?

To be a Muslim one must believe that there is no god but Allah who has no partner and that Muhammad is the last messenger of Allah sent to all mankind. To be a Muslim also means to believe in all messengers of Allah (Abraham, Noah, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, Jesus....) peace be upon them all, and also to believe in the Holy books revealed by God to His messengers, and to believe in the Angels and the Day of Judgement and the destine be it good or bad.
To be a Muslim means to submit and obey God in all what He says. My belief is based on the teaching of the holy book the Quran and the Sunnah (the sayings and the traditions) of Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him. Peace Last edited by Peace; 05-15-2007 at 09:46 AM.. |

Can answer this question twice….once on what people expect and second on what God expects….first answer you can find on most religious sites concerning any…..
Second answer is they don’t follow what God wants else more people would be in heaven…..that is most easily show on the mustard seed which is in the Quran, Bible, Upanishads, Dhammapada……. So when they all interlink as one, the Quran says the books were once one…..so then any one claiming individual religion clearly is out of line with Oneness concepts, especially when personally will guarantee that many of the authors of said books sit with us in heaven.

Patrickism only has one rule with believing:
"GO ahead! You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. BELIEVE EVERYTHING, I say! BUT…ACCEPT NOTHING! UNTIL – I repeat – UNTIL YOU HAVE PROVEN THIS BELIEF TO BE A TRUTH OR AN UNTRUTH. This method works for everything. Try it. Try it on anything people tell you." HELLO IT’S ME: An Interview With GOD Chapter: Belief, Faith, Hope and Joy Pg: 166 What does this entail? The freedom to believe anything I want. The freedom to enhance, compare, organize, enlighten, comprehend, challenge, reason and conclude any beliefs my life picks up along the way without concern of fear, ridicule, disrespect, offense or persecution. |
