![]() My comparison between dancing and sex was supposed to emphasize the idea that both can be primal, and people who wish to uphold things of spiritual rather than physical passion would wish to discourage them. I think that dancing is a perfectly fine thing. Sex is good, too!

Puritans are control freaks who need to dictate what others can or cannot do. Dancing just looks too much like people having fun and having fun and being a Puritan at the same time is mighty hard to do.
Imagine, Muslim theology trying to re-invent the reason dancing began in the first place which is sexual courtship ritual. Muslims can "dance" but they cannot show any signs of sexuality, i.e., they cannot do what dance has always done for human beings. Jehohah's Witnesses, Muslims, what other religious puritans are there these days who don't want human beings to act human? ![]() |

Because it could lead to this.

i dance- alot. and i will dance with people as well.
i think some of the reason dancing has been considered immoral is that it is very body-oriented. it can get people looking at one anothers' moves and could give rise to sensual or sexual ideas. and if your faith discourages that, it's not cool. which is likely why many religious communities to not encourage or allow mixed-sex dancing.
