I just saw a snippet about this on Glen Beck's nightly show. The young lady who is one of the creators of the show was absolutely delightful. Part of her "mission" is to help dispel the notion that Muslim's do not have a sense of humor. Anyway, I will be watching this one come Jan. 6, 2007. So far, she does not think that there will be any backlash to the show. It definitely will be interesting to see.
Read all about it here Little Mosque on the Prairie Methinks Djamilia and Laila would prolly love this one. ![]()

Looks good. We have a few good comedies here as well. "I am Amerikan, da?" is good, and also "Zauzeto!" (Closed for war-damage reconstruction).
My favorite such show about Muslims that I've seen so far was actually a Roman Catholic production called "Bosno moja" (Bosnia of mine). It's about a Roman Catholic family - the grandfather, father, mother, two sons, and a daughter - who move to an apartment in the middle of a Muslim district of Tuzla. It was a made-for-tv movie, and it was absolutely hilarious. The scene I laughed most at is when the nosy Muslim neighbor, an old woman, is watching from her window. The camera is behind her, so you just see her silhouette. Then you hear a car outside on the street, and she rushes her fat self all bouncy and hurried outside and across the street, the camera behind her the whole time so you never see her face. Then it shows her talking to the Christian parents and she says, with the sweetest, most gentle face: Your little girl was walking downtown day in a mini-skirt. Zafika down the street saw her and called me! It's not proper for a Muslim girl, this is not that kind of neighborhood! And the father says: Well, actually... And the mother says: Fedja (non-religion specific name, her husband's name), no! And the father waves her off and says: We're actually... Christians. And the old Muslim woman's jaw drops a bit, and she looks at both of them, back and forth. Her face becomes more stern, she adjusts her blouse, nods and says: Well, so your Jesus Christ told her to be a streetwalker then, did he? And she runs back in her house and phones everybody. AND there's another scene where the RC boys are playing basketball in front of their house, the ball rolls away from them down the hill and a hot, 20-something Muslim girl trips over it and falls down. She's laughing with them, patting them on the head, and throws the ball into the hoop once herself and walks away. Then the next scene is a crowded kitchen, 30 or 40 people, and the first line is some anonymous man saying, "We can't have these attacks against Muslims continuing!" **** Anyhow, point is, I think it's fine to make fun.

It's true, Ymir, there's often things people don't get.
I remember one scene in EUforija (Euforia, and EU - European Union - play on words) where the dialogue goes: Muslim woman 1: "Europe will good for us." Muslim woman 2: "And the Devil in the Mosque." And an American friend thought that meant the Devil at the Mosque would be good for them. LOL But it's an expression that means "Bull poop".
