Myths/Rumors about your religion that just aren't true.
Ever get frustrated by a commonly held myth that just isn't true? Do you want to scream out, "Wiccans don't worship the Devil", or "Mormons don't have three hundred wives"? Then why not do it here?
I'll start it off, for the sake of keeping a good discussion: (Speaking as a Taoist) - No, we do not sit around all day and wait for the world to turn. We have lives too. - Yes, some of us vote. - No, I'm not Chinese. - No, I'm not an anarchist. (Speaking as an atheist) - No, I don't hate religion. - No, I don't deep down believe there is a God. Also, no, I'm not lying about that. - No, I'm not in love with everything that is anti-establishment. - Yes, I'm pro-life. Yes, I'm against the legalization of suicide. Yes, I do have some conservative roots to me.

*We don't worship Joseph Smith or any of our other Church leaders. We worship Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. *We are NOT polygamists, we have not practiced polygamy in over 100 years. My husband nor my father have or want more then one wife. *There are no 'sects' of "Mormonism". These are fundamentalist groups mainly that most of the time practice polygamy. *Not all members of the 12-million strong LDS Chruch are from Utah. There are dispersed throughout the world. In fact, there are more members of the LDS Church outside the United States and Canada then inside. *We do not claim the Book of Mormon to be another "Bible" or the "golden bible" or even replacing the Bible. We cherish and hold dear the Bible to our hearts. The Book of Mormon is just another testament of Jesus Christ. *We do not do 'satanic', 'sexual' or other 'deviant' things in our temples. We worship our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. The temples are a Sacred and Holy house of the Lord. What we do is sacred to us, and that's why we don't share. *Not all LDS members are conservatives. We actually have people from all over the political spectrum, though as a whole we do tend to vote conservative. *Jesus Christ is our Lord and our Saviour. We do not worship anyone else. Wicca/Paganism
We do not worship the Devil/Satan. It's hard to worship someone that you don't believe to exist. We do not steal little Christian babies/children to eat/sacrifice/convert them. Not all spells are "black" magic(k) Not all Wiccans preform magic(k) We (in general) do not hex, curse etc anyone. And those who do are typically not really Wiccans, but just use the label and not adhere to it's system. We are not rebelling against Christianity, society, family, friends. Most of us think long and hard about making the choice to be a Wiccan. We do not have one Holy book, the closest comparison is the Book of Shadows, which is written by the Wiccan and contains information based on the religion itself. It is always being worked on and revised, and is never considered infallible.  Good thread, I look forward to other responses

We are not nazis. We are not racists. We are not all warriors. We are not Wiccans. We are not all metalheads. Someday I hope to change this.  We are not all Scandinavian (Some of us are German...) We are not Vikings. The runes are letters. Yes, letters. Not crazy magical futuremajiggers. Letters. We are not inherantly anti-Christian. Sure, many/most of us are, but it's certainly no requirement. Likewise with being anti-Wiccan. Many of us are, but it's not any sort of rule. Very few of us actually run around with a sword randomly screaming out "ODIN!" It's fun and cheesey as hell though. We do not all go to Valhalla when we die. In fact, I'm sure there's a nice cozy place in helheim waiting for me. Hel is a good thing. Probably more, but I'm lazy and sick.
