Has anyone ever been to a religious ceremony where snake handling is part of the service?
Or, do you know anything about what goes on at these gatherings? Perhaps you can lead me to a website that discusses this issue? Today I read that a woman died as a result of wounds inflicted by a snake during a religious service. It's been quite awhile since I've read anything on this practice and am curious to find out more. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20061108/...urch_snakebite

Yikes! If I walked into a service where a snake was present, I'd walk right back out. Snakes and I don't mesh well together.
From the article: Snake handling is based on a passage in the Bible that says a sign of a true believer is the power to "take up serpents" without being harmed. I guess she wasn't a true believer?
