Surely the OP must be dismissed in any case. It claims that some Shinto organisation identified Hubbard as Maitreya Buddha. Clearly my reply to that nonsense didn't have quite the effect I intended, presumably because westerners often confuse Shinto with Buddhism, but maybe I should make it clearer.
If the Pope of Rome had declared that Hubbard was Maitreya, would anyone take it seriously?
Of course they wouldn't, because Roman Catholicism cannot identify figures in an alien faith. The situation of a Shinto priest, I'm sure Mystic will agree, identifying Hubbard as such is just as ludicrous because it is a completely separate faith to Buddhism. I'm sorry, but I just had to comment again as I see that people still seem to be missing the absurdity of the OP.
