I voted other....and you did ask so....we have been talking about this in another thread, so I may as well repeat it here. Tetragrammaton is considered at least when viewed as Keterim/Adam Kadmon as symbolic of the created man thought to encapsulate the tree of life....
![]() This is thought at least in the context of Adam Kadmon to represent the four 'ancient' (alchemical) elements of Fire, Water, Air and Earth (tho' not strictly in that order). These are typified by the wheels in Ezekiel and the winged beasts in The Revelation. They (if I recall) have the faces of a Lion, an Eagle, a Man, and a Bull, and this is thought to be indicative again of the four mundane elements (let's not even get to 'Ruach Elohim'...the fifth 'element'). It is thought within that schema that the primal elements were fire, water, and air, with earth (clay) being a combination of those three, thus providing a fourth. The associations of each element thus were... Fire (mundane spirit/energy) Water (soul) Air (intellect/mind) Earth (clay/flesh) Thus the man not unified with 'Ruach Elohim' was comprised of these four, with the potential for the descending dove (the fifth element, but I won't bore you with any gematria in this post) to raise this 'cross' to a star.

(imho) the 'soul' is the part of us that has thoughts/emotions/feelings, and the 'spirit' = action.
I used to think that spirit and soul were one and the same, but i've recently come to understand these as two distinctly different things. ![]() "...the life of man proceedeth from the spirit, and the spirit turneth to wheresoever the soul directeth it." -Baha'u'llah, The Summons of the Lord of Hosts
