Default Blame Shifting...

Matthew 5:29 If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. 30 And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell.

I have heard entire sermons that use this passage to show how serious we should take sin. However, I think the passage was not teaching us about the severity of sin, but rather that we should not shift the blame AWAY from us. After all, taken ultra literally, we would have a ton of eyless and handless people in this world.

So the discussion at hand is: How do you blameshift? Who (or what) do you burden with the guilt of your mistakes (sin)???

Nobody but myself. Oh who am I kidding. I blame myself for other people's mistakes too! My husband says it's my catholic upbringing.

Just me. It's a seriously heavy burden
I've asked God to take the load off, but for some reason I'm still feeling squished from the weight...

if you sincerely ask Jesus to forgive you then the Bible says that Christ casts that sin as far as the east is from the west. in other words Christ forgives you completely and forever. the heavy burden is the result of not forgiving yourself. just know that Christ has forgiven you and know your not perfect, and your allowed to make mistakes. thats why God is so good. he doesnt expect you to be perfect and has allowed a way for forgivness.
