"All religions of a spiritual nature are inventions of man".
In the second book of The Satanic Bible , LaVey gives a definition of what Lucifer means . In roman mithology , Lucifer is seen as the one that brings the light , being the god of enlightment , latter , with judeo-christianity becomes the personification of Satan . To re-establish the real meaning of Lucifer , LaVey point out that if Lucifer brings the light , then he must bring it into our mind . So , Lucifer`s risin means man`s departure from religious illusions. How can someone do that? By knowledge . We must never accept anything withount analysing it in it`s full content . Accept that something it`s real and true when there is no doubt in you`re mind about it . The greattest illusion that man have to escape from is the illusion of existing gods . When we think about gods , then we do expect of something that it absolute , unchangeble and ALIVE! Countinuing what is been said in the first book , LaVey believes that our world is a relative one and our mind will allways keep the necesity to change over time our values . One example is the concept of God . Every culture that have such a concept is trying to define it . In some of them you`ll find a God that is pure energy of the univers , in other cultures you`ll find a living entity that could have a body and similar atitudes with man . So , how is God ? Or better saying WHO is God? Maybe unpleasant for religious people , but God is everything that man can not be . In another words God is a projection of human idealism . He is a symbolic representation of human unconsciousness . Does that applies only to God? No, Satan too has never had a absolute image . Most people named him in so many ways : Lucifer , Pan , Dyonisus , till it became from a spirit of light a goat . In any given way , people had tried to give him as many representations as they could just so they can feel well about their own dark side : worshiping it or fearing it . LaVeyan satanism is not a religion based on worshiping anything , but our carnal life . In this new type of satanism there are no gods that can help you , forgive you or give you hope. You get those necesities from yourself . One must understand that to make mistakes is natural , the best thing that one can do is to face that and to try to not make those mistakes next time . This is way LaVeyan satanism is so indulgent to the so-called sins . There is nothing wrong with having some pride , because it keeps you`re self-respect , nothing wrong with envy , it just make you to desire more , therefore to obtain more or with anger , it keeps you alive in some situations , out of humiliation and out of guilt . In conclusion LaVeyan satanism is a form religion in wich are applies the natural laws . Maybe it might rise the question: why call it religion , when there are no gods and everything is based on human nature ? Could it be atheism or humanism? To call something in some manner we have to be sure that is that way , so if we take the luciferic advice than we would analysing it in it`s full content : there is some humanism , but there is some ritual and dogma as well , so no room for atheism or for complete humanism. The answer is : LaVeyan satanism is the only religion that combines psychology with religious emotions, allowing man to realise his needs withount regret or fustration .
