A couple of the arguments:
If Jesus really was God or the Son of God and capible of making miracles (which the Gospels say he was), then in theory he could have escaped his murder. Thus, he CHOSE to die, knowing the good that would eventually come out of it, and therefore was not a victim. The other side said that he WAS a victim because he was being persecuted for his beliefs, and that even though dying on the cross was heroic and he probably knew it was going to happen in advance, he still had no choice in the matter. As far as I have been able to tell, most Christians fall under the latter catagory and most non-Christians under the former, but what do you think? And no, I'm not saying these are the ONLY viewpoints! |

no one dies...
e=mc squared all matter=energy energy cannot die it changes state.... you are immortal Jesus died to tramsfer energy... a sacrifice is undertaken to transfer energy,,,, In THIS case...energy from "hell"...and "earth" back to heaven... So Jesus chose to die as he was meant to,,,and because he knew that no one dies....."death" was merely like buying a new train ticket...

In John it states Jesus came to die. He can only be a victim of Love.

I believe that both are true.
Yes, Jesus was persecuted for his beliefs. Yes, Jesus chose to die. He knew that by not letting go of his beliefs and by not giving in to the Romans (and the Jewish Clergy at the time) that he would be put to death. Is it easier to take it back, and save your life? I don't think so. You live, sure... but you kill yourself for the rest of your life for not standing up for what you believe in and being honest with your soul. He would have died either way. By the hands of the Romans or by his soul eating away at him for a lifetime for betraying himself. EL |
