ISRAEL WAS SCATTERED FOR ACTING CORRUPTLY, as prophesied by Moses in Deuteronomy 4:25-27. This happened the last time in 70 AD, just a few years after Christ was given over to be crucified.
Now, some do not see the parallel between both Israel and the Messiah being cut off. If Israel can fulfill it's destiny, and additional prophecies after a time, why not it's Messiah? In fact, it makes more sense that it should happen this way, especially given all the prophecies that anyone else would need to fulfill to truly be considered the Messiah by the world. And it would need to be the world and not only Israel according to scripture. "Anointed One will be cut off and have nothing..." (Daniel 9:26). "Thus He will sprinkle many nations..." (See Isaiah 52:13-15). As the High Priest sprinkled the animal blood on Israel for the remission of sins. God the Father goes one step further with the blood of the perfect sacrifice, God the Son. "...HE WAS CUT OFF OUT OF HE LAND OF THE LIVING FOR THE TRANSGRESSION OF MY PEOPLE, to whom the stroke was due." This quote from Isaiah 53:8 further shows how it was not Israel dieing for itself, as some wrongly conclude. Israel was cut off from the land, Jesus was "cut off from the land of the living." Also the obvious, one dies for the many. There are those who believe the Messiah should have overthrown Israel's oppressors in fulfillment of many prophecies. But Israel, and the world weren't ready to be rescued fully, the heart being more important, as in Jeremiah 31:31-33, which teaches that THERE WOULD NEED TO BE A NEW COVENANT, ONE OF THE HEART. "Behold, days are coming," declares the Lord, "when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel... I will put My law within them and on their heart I will write it." And so Jesus says, "Unless a man is born from above he cannot see the kingdom of God." Do you see what I mean? |

a_e, please explain how that is bashing Jews. Or do you think Moses was bashing Jews for saying they would be scattered for acting corruptly?
Polaris, I'm in good company calling it proof. Martin Luther, John Calvin, Blaise Pascal all referred to the prophecies Jesus fulfilled as "proof". I will admit it is hard, and that anything can seem impossible to prove beyond a shadow of doubt, especially if one starts saying, "How do you know this isn't all a dream?" I like to say the "leap of faith" becomes a small step when you learn Biblical truth. "We WALK by faith, not by sight." Paul, part two is coming, and I will try to make it a less than a two thousand year wait. |
