Personally i don't believe in fate(a written future) i do believe in Predictions (educated guesses) and the more profound understanding of what will happen which is down largely to experience. the Buddha saw, experienced his past lives (and don't forget he also saw again how people around him acted) and gained enough insight to be able to know the future possibilities. i believe it was a similar thing with Jesus.
