In a way i do, i do not see many original Buddhist thoughts, although it has picked among the best part of hinduism, maybe changed them and created a almost perfect way of thinking. I consider myself buddhist as well as hindu. I would have no problem attending a monastry daily.

I'm more nearly Buddhist, but I have a statue of Ganesh next to my main statue of the Buddha, and I wouldn't have any problem attending a mandir. One of the many things I like about the Eastern dharmas is that they're not so dogmatic and inflexible.

Most of us on this thread so far aren't even real Buddhists.
I want to know what the Buddhists think.

Well if this counts I learned in World Religion class that Buddhism can be either a philosophy of life, which can be intermingled with other faiths without conflict, kept to oneself as an athiest, or it can be a religion. I was told it has this kind of flexibility because it is neotheistic.

You know how they call Abarahamic religions monothiestic and more than one like hinduism polytheistic? Well for some reason in the class according to the text Buddhism was neotheistic, neo I thought meaning "without/no god".... I dont really remember, but I know 100% that it wasn't classified as athiestic.
I did find this definition: Neotheism (Open Theism a.k.a. or Open view of God): A belief that God is not omniscient. In particular, God does not know what will happen in the future with precision. Supporters of this belief back up their position with biblical quotations. ------> Not much good........It was this way from what i understood because Buddha is not supposed to be considered a "God." There is no deity that is the center of the religion.... it is reaching nirvana and something something anatman or something..... Sorry... I am working a 12 hour shift today and I've been up since 6:45 this morning.... ![]() I wil have to dig my notes back up from the class to really figure out what was up with that.
