What is the Responsibility of Buddhists, In a social context, how do you apply it on RF, or do you?
The easy answer is the eight fold path of course, but when was life ever as easy as eight folds. Do you consider it your responsibility as a Buddhist to behave wisely in social situations? If so, could you describe what it means to behave wisely in a social context? What's the essence of it? |

Mindfullness! Do unto others as you would have others do unto you. This also applies for this forum.

Friend Somkid,
Who so ever is on RF are all humans and as any humans to another no one needs any written rules and regulations as by virtue of being humans we all know that by instinct; which itself are enough to live anywhere including on RF. I am sure you are a buddhist after being a human only. love & rgds |

My responsibility has always, as a Buddhist, come down to one simple "mission statement", if I may: To achieve enlightenment for the sake of all sentient beings.
I know it sounds simplistic, but IMO the answer is really that simple. Peace, Mystic

how is achieving enlightenment 'for the sake of all beings?' In what way are all other beings benefitted?
I wish to achieve enlightenment for the sake of achieving enlightenment. It seems I have no choice, we must all do it. |

Well; wouldn't you want to help others out once you are free of Samsara?

How do you envision that happening? Would it be in that space after enlightenment but before parinibbana? Or something else? Just wondering.

![]() I'd think one can help others in need anytime; regardless of whether one achieved enlightenment or not. Helps can be in many forms; for example monetary donations to the poor, charity works or even a wise advice; one certanly don't need to be enlightened to do all those mentioned above. On the other hand; acheiving Buddhahood would certainly help even more people. |
