That sure is a Buddha hamster but a yoga guinea pig would have levitated above the madness of the throng.

Dogs attain to their doghood. Flowers attain to their flowerhood. It is only man that finds it so difficult to find his place, because he thinks too much.

The koan of the dog and Buddha nature, refers to ignorance. We all have the Buddha nature, most of us just don't realise it. By refuting or saying no/nothing, the master was just showing how ignorance hides the Buddha nature in all sentenient Beings, esp. Humans!

Friends,
Each one here is correct.
Lets put is this way that god is existence or nature and in it eachone / everything is part of the whole [existence / nature] and so eachone is enlightened.
Man being unique with a developed mind has the problem as that very mind shields his enlightenment or buddhahood or godhood etc.
Once the mind is dropped, quietend, silenced whatever one calls it. That person too automatically by default becomes part of that existence and like everything in existence, enlightened.
Love & rgds
