On the Path of the Holy Man (Shodomon) every one looking for enlightenment:
and the adherents of the Pure Land(Jodomon)want to go to the Land of the Buddha (Buddha-kshetra) The meaning of "going to the Pure Land" is simple: going to a definite place,"which has arisen from the utmost reality." This is out of Samsara, and borning tere is reaching immortality, and the stage of "Avaivartika", or "non-returner". It is equivalent of the 3.grade Arhat state, that is "Anagamin". But the 'Anagamin" is still within the Samsara however at the highest point of it,in the Akanista Dharmadhatu. It is a highest place, or state in the Samsara , some scripture says, that it is comprising all of the Buddha-fields. It is can be true in the case of the Paradise of the Medicine Master Buddha, but not with the Western Pure Land of Amida Buddha. Going on the Path of Holy Man (Shodomon) one have to cultivate during 1o ooo kalpas to reach the 8.th bodhisattva stage (bhumi),which is the "Avaivartika. A Pure Land follower can reach it in one lifetime. Then he -if he want- can come back to this land in order to fulfil his Bodhisattva Vows,to help the living beings. He can come back without leaving the Pure Land, as an emanation:this was the way,as Shakyamuni Buddha appeared in this world,as Amida incarnation. (I have to mention, that above the "he" is not a gender-determining word.In the Pure Land the beings are androgynes.) These are the adventages-and many more-to be born in the Western Pure Land. Now,let's see what is enlightenment? I do not know. Certainly,a Roshi a Lama, a Master Knows. But all of them KNOWS DIFFERENTLY. In the Vajrayana there is Mahamudra-enlightenment, Dzogchen-enligtenment, and Gradual-, and Sudden-, etc. In te Zen ,itis ddifferent whether is it Rinzai or Shoto. The eligtenment in one sect is idiocy in the others. Some will insist, that youjust have to sit, some that you even do not have to sit, because you are enlightened already. Many way to enlightenment. All is true? I can not answer, and I believe, nobody can. Therefore the best thing to seek birth in the Western Pure Land of Amida Butsu: He is the Buddha of Infinite Life, He is the Buddha of Infinite Light. Uttering, reciting His Name, NAMUAMIDABUTSU, we are united with Him. IT IS TRUE ENLIGHTENMENT: IT IS ETERNAL LIFE. Gassho, respectfully, and NAMUAMIDABUTSU ANRAKU |

Anraku and all-
Respectfully, this is the view of those Buddhists following the Pure Land tradition. Buddhists following other traditions have differing views on many if not most of these points.

OK, besides recognizing the name, Pure Land of the Western Paradise, I don't know much about it. How is it different from Theravada or Mahayana Buddhism?

Nevermind, I answered my own question.
