It is an interesting (although, to me, slightly crazy) theory, that all we really know is what we percieve, and so we cannot in any way be sure that there is some reality outside of us: the "solipsism" philosophy. - By re-wiring I understand that basical structures are changed in the brain. I do not think that is necessary in therapy, and re-thinking seems to be "just" a way of re-routing the pathways of thoughts in a physically unchanged brain. The reference to the spoon bending hoax rather strengthens my impresssion that such things cannot be done...

Anyway, there is always room for re-thinking. Again, thank you all.

I think you misenturprited what i said, but got it right anyway. Re-wiring isn't changing the structure of the brain it's changing the pathways which we use. Since we only use about 10% of our brain rewiring can open up new worlds of thinking to individuals. I take enlightenment (for instance as the ability to step outside of our current mindsets and view the multitude of other 'pathways' available to us, opening our minds to other ways of life.
Yeha, like I said the spoon thing is far fetched, but it serves its purpose in providing an example.

I do believe that i another example of how different thought processes can lead to the same conclution...
just like religion, we are all basically worshiping the same thing, it's just different means to the same end.
