From the KJV Bible
Proverbs 11:28 28. He that trusteth in his riches shall fall: but the righteous shall flourish as a branch. Taken from the MSG (whatever that is) Proverbs 11:28 28. A life devoted to things is a dead life, a stump; a God-shaped life is a flourishing tree. Okay, I have a bit of an issue with this.

I don't like the message translation. IT's not a translation. IT's an interpretation. Granted, ANY translation is going to be an interpretation, but this one is balanced much more heavily towards interpretation than translation.

From:- http://www.bible.org/Netbible/pro11.htm
11:28 The one who trusts in his riches will fall, (which is how I understand it); but (slightly off topic) this is just one of the reasons I don't believe that the Bible 'is for me'. ![]()

Maybe I'm daft...but I've read all of the verses posted to mean the very same thing.
I don't really see how meaning was lost in the translations. God is righteousness. I read from several different Bibles...King James, New King James, NLT, NCV, NIV and an NAB. Differences in verbiage like the example posted doesn't change the meaning of the text for me. I find differences when reading the Bible between the different texts from time to time but I've never run across a verse where the meaning is totally different. Some version just read a little better than others. I'll leave now. ![]()
