The Book of Enoch (Jesus, tradition, genesis, Revelation, sinners)

Im new here and was at my local denny's having a bible study. We were looking at genesis where it talks about humans living for 900 years or more then God seeing that the timeline set for them was far too long. It spoke of Enoch and after living 969 years I believe, it said that he did not die, but god took him. Then after Noah people were cursed with only 120 years of life.

My question pertains to the Book of Enoch. I read in wikipeadia that there were actually three books and i was wondering which one would be about this particular Enoch?

There were three other people named Enoch. One being Caine's son, the other being Midians son, then the other being the son of Rueben(sp?) The books go in this order. Enoch, Enoch I, and Enoch II. I would really appreciate any help on this subject.

Yes. Basically, the Greeks fought over Palestine from the time of Alexander the Great until Rome took over the area. Alexander made it to Egypt with no heir, and one general (and then his family/dynasty) contolled Egypt (=south of Israel) and one controlled Babylon (=North of Israel). Enoch is pseudepigraphical apocalyptic literature.

It is pseudepigraphic because it is a false writing - that is, written under a false name. Basically, the author claims that he is Enoch and records all that he sees in heaven. It is apocalyptic (like our Revelation) because it tells of a time when God wil clean up the mess that the Greeks and Romans made - restore his people and exact justice. You see, the Greek and Roman Empire were both so big and so powerful that the Jews believed that only God could take them out. In later Enoch traditions, he becomes the Son of Man and Son of God, providing context for these titles being used for Jesus.

The Enoch tradition provides basis for our Christian confession in John 3.13 -

The Enoch tradition is quoted as scripture in the NT book of Jude 1.14.

Compare this with Enoch 1:9, translated from the Ethiopian:
