Here is an interesting spin on Adam and Eve, Cain and Able. What are your thoughts? I figured I would post it here since there is bound to be some sort of debate! I was originally gonna post it here but I would have to post it in sections so I figured just to link to it!

The story of Adam and Eve have no foundation. Archaeologist have know for many years that two lagged humans have walked this earth for over 50,000 years, been born and died long before Adam/Eve commited the first original sin. Also the Biblical deluge never happened.

If we wait for an archeologist to confirm Adam and Eve's existance we'll wait until we are fossils ourselves. You can not find truth anywhere but within yourself. The measure of thought you give to the truth will always be in opposition to the status quo. We think the sun rises and sets, but then we found out that actually the sun does not rise and set, instead we revolve around the sun.
You and I always display the same symptoms as adam and eve did no matter how hard we try to not eat that silly fruit. The entire human race is a prototype of adam and eve. Even if Adam and Eve is just a story, it is evident that we all are like them is some way. To know where we are going to we have to understand our past. Not necessarily the past of Adam and Eve, but your own past. The mistakes we make and our failure is an illusion. Nothing really is a mistake only a lesson. As long as we are willing to learn from our own mistakes we will gladly make them. If we are depressed and constantlly feel guilt about or mistakes and mishaps, we miss the message they are trying to give us...the message is...'you need to change in this area'. When we are able to silence the brain noise that we all experience everyday, we will understand that just like adam and eve, we fear the rejection of god, by trying to cover up our mistakes. All we end up rejecting is ourselves, and our brain goes in overdrive to try and make ourselves look 'not-guilty'. Guilt is public enemy number one, repentance is public friend number one. You have exponential power within you to change the world. When you repent you acknowledge your rebellion against your own power. When we are able to change ourselves, we truly can do what Christ said we would do...'greater things' Heneni |

Quinn isn't proposing that Adam and Eve were real. He's treating them as mythic archetypes, representing a clash of cultures.

So, I logically started with Genesis - it was the start of the Bible and all of that. I managed to look past the wonky science for the parable of creation, but when it started going on about God flooding the earth, and only Noah and his family were worth saving, I gave up right there. What I get out of that story, whether it be an allegory, metaphor or a report of a real event, is that everything not on Noah's boat was left to drown - animals and babies included. I honestly don't know what to conclude from that, except that God can be real vicious and intolerant when he wants to be. I think this answers your question in relation to myself. |

Without a REAL Adam?Eve figure Chrisitanity is worthless. If there was no original sin by them then there is no need for Jesus as a saviour for man kind. Real people walked this earth for at least 50,000 ago long before Adam ate the fruit if he did???

I don't think anyone is saying there is anything wrong with reading and enjoying fables, and perhaps even gaining some wisdom and insight from them. The problem is in trying to pass off these mythologies as literal truths.
