OH vey... one last time... deep breaths everyone.
First, let’s look at what Jesus actually said: Matthew 23: 8But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren. 9And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven. (KJV) We can start with verse 8... But be not ye called Rabbi (teacher) BUT…. the Apostle Paul not only recognized teachers as gifts of God to the Church,(1 Corinthians 12:28 and Ephesians 4:11) but he also did not hesitate to call himself "a teacher of the Gentiles".(2 Timothy 1:11) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Look at verse 9... And call no man your father (Notice he does not say SPIRITUAL father… he says father… those are his words.) BUT… the Apostle Paul wrote, "For if you were to have countless tutors in Christ, yet you would not have many fathers; for in Christ Jesus I became your father through the gospel".(1 Corinthians 4:15) as well as "Fathers, do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged".(Colossians 3:21) So either the Catholic tradition of calling our priests “father” or “teacher” is correct…. Or both the Church AND THE APOSTLE PAUL are in error. Here endeth the lesson. ![]() |

Mr. Emu and Scott1,
I already told you what is needed to be told, and showed you what you needed to see. I will leave it up to your conscience, as my conscience is clear. I believe come judgement day your blood will not be searched from my hands anymore. I will leave everyone with this verses: Mat 13:17 "For I tell you the truth, many prophets and righteous men longed to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it." Peace Guys! ![]()
