If you believe there is a perfect Bible out there available which version is it?
Or is it a mix of all the versions?

I find the NIV is easy to read and the fact that it had most Christian denomiations approve of it translation appeals to me as well. On-the-other-hand, reading different translations may clarify difficult passages.

I alternate between my KJV and NIV. I think it helps to read several versions, sometimes you see something in a little different context than just staying with one version. Sometimes one small word can change the way I perceive a scripture. A lot of people tend to complicate the scripture actually I think it is pretty straight forward.

None are perfect. But I suggest that you use a bible translated by an interdenominational and professional committee, not one done by non-experts (e.g., New World Translation of the JWs) or by persons working alone (Joseph Smith's translation, Eugene Peterson's "The Message", The Living Bible). This will leave you about 30 good translations in English alone. By comparing the translations, you can see where the tricky bits are in the original languages, and you can see some of the issues the committees struggled with before deciding on a rendering.
Personally, I use the New Revised Standard Version (Catholic Edition, which includes the Apocrypha).

The issue here is the accuracy of the translations, not the veracity of the history or doctrines.

I read part of one... I don't know what it was called... It just said "The Bible" on it.
