Like I have said before, no book can be perfect because it frames the truth, if you want to call it that, into a fixed point in time and history and holds the believer from experiencing what is real. Therefore, the person who holds that truth is to be found in that book has bound themselves in much the same manner. What can be substantiated? What can be called truth? The words of a book? Should not truth be held to a higher standard? All of this is the cause of the confusion of mankind...We tend to minimize truth and turn it into something far-off and unbelievable.

Yes I have ( when I was a kid). I just think its strange that he used the same " looking glass in a top hat" to look for the treasure. Then God gives him " seer stones" that he puts in the same top hat and reads " golden plates". Why would God use the same " scam" he was arrested for to now restore the gospel and the church? To me it seems Smith at least could of came up with something original. Just my thoughts... I know its off topic , but i was just responding to your question. We could start a new thread if you would like. Last edited by rocka21; 05-13-2008 at 01:47 PM. |

i would say a version with the original hebrew alongside the english is better than the typical christian translations. the jewish translations seem to get deeper into what is really said in the tanakh, whereas the christian translations tend to take many words and translate them the same when they do not have the same meaning. peace

seems commnon sense would share that every word ever written was by a man/women.
So for a perfect book to be located then maybe an assembly of knowledge covering the history of time, leading to absolute truth combining the religions with the sciences, would literally be from God as all the contributers are also from God; a book of true understanding from the evolution of knowledge; a perfect bible |
