It depends on the construction of the righteous pattern, I guess, as to whether devoting yourself to it completely is a good or a bad experience.

I suppose that for many people, the satisfying feeling that one is righteous would offset the inconvenience and indignity of enslaving oneself to religious authority, but I think that's very sad.

Depends if it is a model of enslavery, or a model of advancement. The mormon concept is that we progress to become gods ourselves.

I'm aware of that, but that progression is something you have to take on faith; the only thing we get to see on the ground is the enslavement.
