I agree that the asthetic of bride for a male is lacking at best.
(unless of course the male is trans-gender) When you rely on pre-scribed symbolisms you can't expect a perfect fit for everyone. One size rarely fits all. That is why I'm much happier choosing and applying my own inspired symbolisms and allegories. They always fit me right and compliment both gender & "figure". As well ... style, form & type. All very important. What bride wants to wear a one size fits all dress?! What man wants to be a bride in a one size fits all dress?? Certainly though I will give you that allegory often requires extra-ordinary leaps of meaning application. It's like watching an epic mythology and making allowances for the sake of the story line/plot/meaning. Last edited by UltraViolet; 05-05-2008 at 11:19 AM. |

I can understand how god included the gentiles into the family
So then, we are the sons, we are the body, we are the bride, and we are the wedding guest. Is it just me, or are we acting sheepish? Heneni |

Sheepish? Being counted as sons (and, therefore, inheritors) and not servants; being an important half of a whole; being an honored part of a celebration where two become one -- how is that sheepish?

If we take the creation as a model of marriage, it is clear that for every man there is one wife. That was the original intention of god, for each man to have one wife.
The ten virgins cant be Israel, since Israel is not a virgin, she has committed adultery and idolatory. Who of us can claim that we have never committed adultery/idolatory yet we flippantly include ourselves into what the bible calls the bride? Not everyone is the bride of Jesus. Cant be, since his bride is holy. And if we have commited adultery/idolatory we cannot be pure anymore and therefore can not be the bride. Only if the spirit within you is holy and free from any adultery/idolatory can you claim to be a bride. Otherwise you have commited idolatory/adultery and you are not pure anymore. Will god unite himself with a prostitute? heneni |

The isrealites still think that they can satisfy god by being obedient to the code of law. They dont believe in the gospel of grace.
Who is the bride? She is holy. So whoever is holy is the bride. Since god will not unite himself with a prostitute again..Yes again. He united himself to us all who were not holy, and idolaters. All of us were in him, united to him, all of our spirits being nothing less than adulterous! That should make us wonder ![]() Heneni |
