One of my favorite interpretations of the elevation of Peter goes like this:

Jesus named the apostle who He knew would deny Him three times. Peter (the Rock) was not so much a bedrock but shifting sands. The cause of God is such that even set upon shifting sands it cannot be defeated.

We did not establish our own, look at the name of our church. "members of" even our registration with the sec states that. why?

coz we beleive we just joined the church in the bible.

Because this has degenerated into yet another pointless and fruitless argument of "Who's Right vs. Who's Wrong."

Oh, if we could only see that, by declaring who has the knowledge, power, authority, blessing, truth, etc., is a member of the **true** Church is patently wrong! It is not the possession of any of these attributes. It is the possession of a heart that loves God and loves neighbor that makes one a member of the Body of Christ. All who do these things stand under the Law and with the Prophets, and are, therefore, part of the one Body of Christ.

"All who love are born of God." But there is more than one aspect to the Church and I think the thread was relative to the Church on earth. At least that is what I understood.

While Peter does mean rock I believe this passage refers to the rejection that the Pharisees and chief priests had for Jesus that would culminate in the Crucifixion which is the rejection of the cornerstone.

which part of the link that i told you do you find erroneous? the idea of how i argued that Jesus was the rock is consistent with my pastor's.

remember, their can't be your truth and my truth but only the truth. you said it is just a matter of how much we know of it, it is a matter of having the proper viewpoint.

I am still moved by those words Michel. as you can see i memorized it by heart.

let us use the bible as our viewpoint.
