I've always thought of the bible as being somewhat historically true, but that some of the events have either been made up or completely embelished to symbolize an idea.

If abstinence was a "Godly" thing, then why is it IMPOSSIBLE to reproduce any other way. had Adam and Eve not born children they would have died and thwe human race would have ended with them.

If christians all lived celibately, there would be no more christians left.

Matter in fact God COMMANDED adam and Eve to have sex. "multiply and replenish the earth"

There were other people that suddenly appeared on the Earth that weren't of Adam & Eve though.

Agreed. It's only considered "Godly" because it's obeying God above your own impulsive wants (before marriage).

While I think that's unlikely, it's always struck me as odd that people could reject it as ridiculously implausible that she was sexually abstinent after Jesus' birth, but very believable that she was abstinent before.

Aren't a lot of people abstinent before marriage?
