What are your views on this? Should the Bible be reclassified? |

I think it would be a little silly to reclassify an ancient religious text as indecent.
However since people have been complaining, i can't see any reason not to use warning stickers about its content.

Personally, I dont think it should. if you look from a non-religious perspective, the bible can be taken as just any other story book or film. China make some horrific films, filled with violence, blood shed etc. As for the under 18s comment, It doesnt promote (if at all) those things now. They have to remember the bible was written hundreds of years ago, what was acceptable then, wont necessarily be acceptable now. Its like a History book in that case. Does that mean we have to not teach our kids history. I wasnt 18 when I learnt how people were hung, drawn and quartered, I wasnt 18 when I learnt about the blood shed of the world war and I wasnt 18 when I learnt how the czar of russia and his young family were all lined up and shot to death like a bunch of animals!
Those are my thoughts anyhow! ![]()

Must be someone read Judges 19.
![]() I do think it's rather silly to treat an ancient text in this way. It's somewhat like suggesting that anyone under 18 should not read a historical account of the slave trade or any military history. |

I can see some of the Bible as a bit shocking to some easily offended people, but I do not see that as being a reason to keep it away from minors. Kids have just as much right to study and explore religion as anyone.
Although I'm not surprised at people for seeing it as indecent, I think the legal restrictions are quite silly.

booko, do you think people should read things like that, maybe not only historical things like slave trade or wars between countries which we can learn from as opposed to just stories of people commiting specific sins and injustices with names acccounts every detail of the transgression is exposed. But I guess to some people, it seems pornographic. Now that is the extreme and then we have the opposite of that and people concerning biblical scripture are entitled to their opinion but how do they reconcile this issue and accusation. should things ,like for example the raping of one's sister be told in a religious book a book which is supposed to lay out a criterion for moral character. do you not think that perhaps someone who may have not thought about it, is now after reading it. do you not think that the person could be affected somehow and may act upon this new found information. Just curious as to what you think.
