Personally, I do not believe in original sin. I simply cannot equate a God who would punish all of humanity for all time because of something one person did. Additionally, I do not believe that God would do this just so he could kill his own son so he could then be perceived as benevolent and 'save us'. I think God is pretty smart and I think those things are utterly stupid, therefore, I don't believe them. I agree with the poster who said that would make God vindictive. I don't think these stories are meant to be taken literally.

The original sin is when Eve lied about the order or commandment that God gave about the "tree of knowledge of good and bad".
God says to Adam not to eat from it lest ye die. Eve says to the serpent that God said not to touch it and not to eat from it. Satan is called the 'father of the lie' because he made Eve lie.
