In any civilized society, any parent who would let their kids have and do anything they wanted without consequence would be considered bad parents. Spare the rod, spoil the child, I believe is the old saying. Original Sin can be seen in human beings of all times up until our own. It is the desire to decide for ourselves what is right and wrong. If you recall, the tree that Adam and Eve ate from was NOT an apple tree - nor was it the tree of Enlightenment - It was the tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. It is God's prerogative alone to decide what is good and evil/right and wrong, yet humans have since the beginning of time insisted upon taking this upon themselves, thus ignoring the voice of God in their lives. This explains the existence of contemporary atheism. If you disagree with me, then you prove my point.

I'll put it this way. I don't give a crap about original sin cause i don't believe in it. I think expultion from paradise was because they simply disobeyed. Who's to say that G-d wouldn't have let them eat from the tree if they had proven themselves. Makes one wonder what would have happened to Issac if Abraham had refused to make him a sacrafice. And look G-d didn't let Abraham go through with it. G-d was testing Abraham and G-d was testing Adam and Eve. Adam and Eve failed their test.

Makes me wonder why the old man put that tree there in the first place.
Has a kind of Job flavor to me, that role of the dice, lets see what happens. And of course that hapless imperfect creation, humans, take the fall for Gods appetite for gambling.

This is either very dishonest or very thoughtless. At issue is not permissiveness versus strict parenting, but responsible parenting versus sadistic vindictiveness.

I disagree. The parent, G-d, told them not to and they disobeyed. They got punished for that. But G-d was quick to forgive and blessed them with children. G-d has always been quick to forgive after punishing Man for screwing up.

Why must it be "sadistic vindictiveness?" Why can it not be responsible parenting vs. irresponsible parenting?

How sad that the question is what was the orginal sin and somehow some Catholic comes along and declares the Catholic religion as the dictators of morality and any questioning of it is to "prove my point."

If Adam and eve gained wisdom or knowledge or both from eating the fruit than the Catholic dictation of morals which by your estimation was gained from consuming the fruit is the lifelong continuation of the orginal sin via the Catholic church.
