Matthew 7:7 is one of my favorites
7. Ask and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. To me it just means if you seek with pure intent you will find it, your prayers will be answered -- it may not always be in the way you want, but that's not how God does it, He knows what is best for you and will answer all your prayers whether you know it or not. |

Luke 6:37-38 NLT
37"Stop judging others, and you will not be judged. Stop criticizing others, or it will all come back on you. If you forgive others, you will be forgiven. 38If you give, you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full measure, pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, and running over. Whatever measure you use in giving--large or small--it will be used to measure what is given back to you." |

For some reason I like John 4:21

I have some favourites, but I think the best verse is Matthew 12:32-34:
And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, thou hast said the truth: for there is one God; and there is none other but he: And to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love [his] neighbour as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices. And when Jesus saw that he answered discreetly, he said unto him, Thou art not far from the kingdom of God. And no man after that durst ask him [any question]. Or similarly, Matthew 22:34-40: But when the Pharisees had heard that he had put the Sadducees to silence, they were gathered together. Then one of them, [which was] a lawyer, asked [him a question], tempting him, and saying, Master, which [is] the great commandment in the law? Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second [is] like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. I, however, do not believe that one need believe in God in order to fulfill these commandments. I believe that in loving thy neighbour as thyself, and in 'serving others,' we are thereby serving God, or 'doing God's will.' Romans 13:7-10: Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute [is due]; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour. Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law. For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if [there be] any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love [is] the fulfilling of the law.

this is one of my favourite verses in the bible Daniel 2;44 the reason being that this is the theme of the whole of the bible from Genesis to revelation . and true peace will only come to this earth, by means of this heavenly kingdom...........And in the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be brought to ruin. And the kingdom itself will not be passed on to any other people. It will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, and it itself will stand to times indefinite; DANIEL 2;44 and this is the kingdom that Jesus said to pray for. matthew 6;9-10
9 "YOU must pray, then, this way: "‘Our Father in the heavens, let your name be sanctified. 10 Let your kingdom come. Let your will take place, as in heaven, also upon earth |

The whole of Psalm 50 (that's 51 in western Bibles). I often read that in Church during the prayers that precede the Divine Liturgy. It is just a heart-felt plea for forgiveness and recognition of sin. It helps to keep me humble.
James
