Do you have any scriptural support for the statement that Paul made these allowances "until the abolishment of it."?

I know of none.

Why didn`t he just abolish it if it was against Christian doctrine?
Why didn`t the Church abolish it any time for the next dozen or so centuries if it was against Christian doctrine?

They abolished alot of other practices that were nothing or even beneficial compared to slavery.

Where`s the scriptural support for this concept?

You make a good point...I did not know it was abolished anywhere scripturally. There was always made such a point about treating servants and slaves respectfully and with fairness...there was no place I'm aware of (but I don't know ALL the scriptures) that forbids slavery. I do know we are to act as servents ourselves instead of masters but I too would be anxious to hear the scripture behind this all.

Slavery was global market, and existed for a very long time and long before Jesus. I think slavery started when civilisations first rose. They required mass production to building materials, building cities, pottery, and gathering food for mass population.

The earliest I can work out from the biblical timeline, Abraham had slaves, and it was not just a few. I didn't find any reference to slave before his time. But of course, they exist before Abraham's time.

Well, from the Jewish point of view...

Selling people into slavery was put under gezerah during the time of Rabbi Yosef Caro which makes the ownership of slaves halachically impossible.
