to the creator of thread:
the reference to hair in the Bible is simply because of cultural background. For them at the time, long hair was fit suitable for women, and short hair for men. You always have to analyze the bible in context with the time period, place, etc. Jesus taught that these "laws" are unimportant and we should focus on loving one another, disregarding our difference, in sex, color, preference...etc. my take on hair: i wanted to get dreds, but my mother who is influenced by her Ethiopian culture (one of the very first christians), said I must cut my hair short, becasue it is considered a disgrace for ethiopian men to have long hair (even though im not even full ethiopian). basically it matters not whether your hair is long or not......and yes i will eventually get dreads hopefully when i move out.

I dont have a problem with culture issues, i realize that culturally it was different. HOWEVER, if we must do all God commands, and what god commands is in the bible, shouldnt it have merit culture or not?
Did Yeshua have short hair? |

Oh, and Im not sure if Yesus had short hair...I wasnt alive back then, nor Im a Yesus, and I cannot trust and pictorial paintings that are supposed to be Yesus, because for one, they draw him as white and stright hair, which through scientific fact, is not true.
He most likelly was middle-eastern and had hair according to that time period (which from what I recall would be short length to mabye the shoulder level.

My question is mainly, "are we following paul's law, Jewish law, or Yeshuas?" It's just a different way to look at the whole scenario.

WE SHOULD FOLLOW JESUS's LAW, because we are CHRISTIANS, not PAULIANS. Pauls gospel is only a translation and add on of what Jesus and paul thought. I like to stick to Jesus though.
If you are having trouble deciding whether to have long or short hair. Dont worry about it, you wont go to hell for haveing long hair...lol

I'm not christian, its not a matter or care to me.
Christians these days follow Paul's interpretation of Yeshua's laws, because yeshua only gave one commandment: love. The hair truly isnt the issue here... But because Christians tend to follow Paul's added on laws, shouldn't we follow all of them? It's kinda bad to pick and choose something in the holy books. If we souldn't follow Paul's law, then there are really no requirements at all except to love. I guess I just dont see many Christians who are willing to simply love and forget the laws... however "cultural" they may be |

we should follow them to a certain extent, because once those views and ideas get morphed after a long period of time (as is shown in our own history), original teachings get corrupted, so yea we shoudl follow them, but not when they start to get out of context towards the original teachings as you said: love (peace, tranquility, etc.)

"8 For man did not come from woman, but woman from man;"
Isnt this the same as the arguement "Which came first? The chicken or the egg?"
