Default Formal Debates

There is a forum dedicated to formal debates. If you would like to challange someone for a private debate without interruption from other members, post a thread in the forum and it will be reviewed by a host moderator.

It should include -

  • The question to be debated
  • Who will debate the question (or perhaps, just a proposed "opponent")
  • How many rounds the debate will go (the number of pro and con posts)
  • How much time should be allowed between posts
  • And finally, who will go first

The moderator will make final preparations and start the debate.

All other members may make comments on the ongoing debate in a separate thread in the Formal Debate Discussion Forum or even continue after the debate is closed. Although it is called "Discussion", that sub-forum will follow the rules of a debate forum.

Read the rules for each Formal Debate Forum and tips for a successful debate so you will not be surprised.
