Jesus was a Jew, but based on the basic principles of Christianity it can be argued that Jesus had radical beliefs that went against Jewish Law and tradition at the time of his life. To what extent was Jesus differing from Jewish law/tradition is a bit unkown.
Early christian communities that still considered themselves Jewish, such as the Jerusalem community of James the Brother of Jesus, likely believed that Jesus kept intact a lot of the Jewish traditions. Even though they did believe Jesus may have differed on some issues. It's possible they believed Jesus believed in keeping the kosher laws, the covenant of Circumcision and the exclusion of Gentiles.
While another later early christian community such as Paul's believed rather different things. Such as getting rid a lot of Jewish traditions and allowing the inclusion of Gentiles. And do remember Pauls community was mostly Gentile.
Of course, which tradition went on to have power in Rome and eventually the established Church of Rome? Paul's did. So keep that in mind.
