Martian language? M'kay, i dunno what you mean, some works are very allegorical and difficult to understand without the correct frame of mind, put they're all readable. I've posted this before, but you might not have seen it, its about who the Gnostics actually were; http://www.essene.com/Gospels/GnosticAndSophia.html

As for who wrote the books of the NT, well I imagine Paul wrote his letters. I don't know who wrote Matthew, Mark and Luke, but i am pretty certain that John was actually written by Gnostics.
This is because it is so different in tone to the other three gospels, plus like someone said, it seems anti-jewish. Its not really anti-jew but rather anti-demiurge worship and since jews worship the demiurge... well that's pretty self explanatory.
Other evidence is that the gospel of John was found amongst other Gnostic texts at Nag Hammadi and that Herakleon (a famous Gnostic) wrote a commentary on John, but not the other three. I know its not enough to convince mainstream Christians, but its enough for me.

There are questions about who wrote Hebrews. Some think Paul. Others claim it would have been impossible for him to have.

The Torah and the TaNakh were not written in their present form until about two hundred years before Christ. Though attributed to Moses, the Torah gives very clear signs of five different authors.

The fact is that the books of the Torah and the TaNakh were written before that, but they were not compiled and given a recision until around 200 BC, that's more than a millenia after the time of Moses. The books existed in oral traditions and in written versions that differed from each other by distance and dialect.

This is true of the Gospels as well. But its decades not centuries. The oral tradition and early lost written works were not put into final form as the New Testament until the COuncil of Nicaea.

The Qur'an existed for a number of years in various versions. Fear that those versions would cause schism prompted Umar to order that a perfect version be written down and distributed to the various Muslim communities so that the Qur'an would be protected. To further that he ordered the destruction by fire of older versions.

Not until the 19780's were any of these earlier writings of the Qur'an ever found.

I don't think it matters, Bang. God is sufficent protection for His words.

I am just glad that as a Baha`i, we have in archives all of the writings of Baha`u'llah in His own hand or as taken down during dictation by a handful of secretaries.

Regards,
Scott
Amin to that. I may be a Sunni but I'm with you on that.
