Default Kingdom of Heaven

This thread is branching off from my Prophecy thread in Comparative Religion. Prophecy
As you can see, I believe Daniel 2:39-44 has already been fulfilled. Babylon was the kingdom of gold, which fell to the Persians, the kingdom of silver, which fell to the Greeks, the kingdom of bronze, which fell to the Roman Republic, the kingdom of iron, which became the Roman Empire, the kingdom of iron mixed with clay, which was finally consumed by the Church, the indestructable kingdom of God. On the other hand, Faith_is_an_assurance believes that with the capture of Iraq, we are only beginning to see this prophecy fulfilled. I assume he believes we are going to capture Persia, Greece, Rome, then Christ will come in his kingdom. The problem I have with this is that Christ promised the kingdom would come during the generation of the apostles.

Matt 16:28 Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.

Hi again!

First off, please use a larger typefont. That size is ridiculously small--virtually invisible! Thank you.

Anyway, as to the kingdoms described in Daniel, according to Baha'i literature they are as follows:

- golden: Chaldea under Nebuchadnezzar
- silver: Chaldea's Media-Persian period
- bronze: Chaldea's Hellenistic period (initiated by Alexander and continued by the Seluccids and intermittently, Rome)
- iron: Chaldea's Islamic period
- iron mixed with clay: Claldea's later Islamic decline

and then, the promised spiritual age to come....

You can find details about this by visiting the website
www.bahai-library.org
and checking the book "I, Daniel" by Robert Riggs.

Regards, :-)

Bruce

Matt 16:28
Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.
this verse in matthew 16;28 was fullfilled 6 days later , when the transfigaration happened, the transfigaration was a vision about Jesus coming into kingdom power at a future time ,
Six days later Jesus took Peter and James and John his brother along and brought them up into a lofty mountain by themselves. 2 And he was transfigured before them, and his face shone as the sun, and his outer garments became brilliant as the light. 3 And, look! there appeared to them Moses and E·li´jah, conversing with him. 4 Responsively Peter said to Jesus: "Lord, it is fine for us to be here. If you wish, I will erect three tents here, one for you and one for Moses and one for E·li´jah." 5 While he was yet speaking, look! a bright cloud overshadowed them, and, look! a voice out of the cloud, saying: "This is my Son, the beloved, whom I have approved; listen to him." 6 At hearing this the disciples fell upon their faces and became very much afraid. 7 Then Jesus came near and, touching them, said: "Get up and have no fear....matthew 17;1-7

this kingship of jesus has now already happened, in 1914 in the heavens whenJesus was made king of Gods kingdom in the heavens. the reason that moses and Ilijah were in the vision is because they parrallel the annointed joint heirs of christ ,who are ruling in the heavens with Jesus
This dazzling display gave Peter, James, and John a spectacular foregleam of Jesus’ glorious presence in Kingdom power.............. so yes it was fullfilled it was a vision of Jesus in kingdom power
The overshadowing cloud indicated that the fulfillment of this vision would be invisible. It would be discernible only with the eyes of understanding on the part of those who recognize "the sign" of Jesus’ invisible presence in Kingdom power
