very soon now, Jehovah will make it clear to all who the sons of God are. these sons of God will share with Jesus christ in cleansing this earth of evil and oppression at Gods war of Har- Magedon(Daniel 2:44; 7:13, 14, 27; Revelation 2:26, 27; 16:16; 17:14; 19:11-21)
we are deep into the last days of man ruling himself independent of God, and soon God will tolerate it no longer and wickedness and rebellion on this earth will come to its end 2 Timothy 3:1-5; Matthew 24:3-31

In Genesis the sons of God were angels who did the dirty with human women, as punishment they were confined to a place of darkness, presumably somewhere in hell.

yes thats right those angels that were in the first place sons of God, turned rebellious, and did the dirty as you say,they are now in spiritual darkness and no longer does Gods spirit shine on them .
but the sons spoken of in romans are disciples of Jesus Christ who, like the rest of "the [human] creation," are born enslaved to sin and imperfection. By birth they have no rightful place in God’s clean, perfect universal family. But Jehovah does something remarkable for them. Through the ransom sacrifice of Jesus Christ, He frees them from bondage to inherited sin and declares them "righteous," or spiritually clean. (1 Corinthians 6:11) Then he adopts them as "sons of God," bringing them back into his universal family.—Romans 8:14-17

I understand the time limit set by FW's was 'one generation from 1914'. Is that still the termination date?

If you read on in verses 20 and 21, Paul is revealing to the Roman church that creation was frustrated by the free will and disobedience of humankind, who overturned God's plan as a result of sin and henceforth, earth was cursed to face disasters, disease and death. But creation does wait eargerly for the sons of God to be revealed, meaning those who have chosen to turn away from the bondage of sin and accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. Jesus made it clear in John 14:6 that their is no other way to the Father (the intelligence behind creation of earth, universe and life). I think to understand this verse we need to look at the verses preceding it as well. Romans 8:16-18: "The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, the heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us."

From these scriptures we learn that we are the children of God and joint-heairs with Christ. Whether we believe Christ and God are the same being or are two separate beings with one purpose, we can see the Christ, as an heir, will inherit all God has. It says we are joint heirs with Christ, meaning we too can inherit all God has. This is what is meant when LDS say we can become like God.

An easy example that helps me understand this idea is this: Puppies grow up to be dogs, kittens grow up to be cats, chicks grow up to be chickens...so what do the children of God grow up to be? I think the answer is in these verses.

JW believe that 1914 was the start of the last days , the last days being ( the last days of man ruling himself independent of God)so yes we are the generation that Jesus refered to in matthew 24;34 there is no change in our fundamental teaching about 1914 ,we are living in amongst a crooked generation of people..Acts 2;40 because i believe our understanding of bible prophecy is a progressive thing and bible prophecy is working in line with world events , but no one knows the hour or day so bible students should keep on the watch . keeping on the watch is so very important and we have to becareful that we do not fall a sleep in a spiritual way and miss the signs, at one time JW thought that the word generation was refering to a time period , but with better understanding about this word( generation )that Jesus used ,they now have come to realize that when Jesus mentioned (this generation ) he always used this word when he was talking about the unbelieving people around them so this generation of people with their attitudes and ways will not pass away before the signs that Jesus left us ,happen... i think for me ,i like how our understanding is more accurate as these last days move along
